Newport County have made their second signing of the summer in the form of 24 year-old defender Kyle Jameson.
Kyle joins James Clarke, Declan Drysdale and Harrison Bright in the defensive ranks ahead of the 23/24 season.
Kyle has had a number of clubs since coming into pro football. He has turned out for the likes of Barrow, Tranmere, Fylde and Oldham. He made his name it could be argued at Chelsea where he made a number of appearances for the Premier League outfit as they went on to win the U18 Premier League.
Kyle joins County after recently being released from fellow League two side Tranmere Rovers where he made 10 appearances for the super whites predominantly featuring as a left sided center back and can also play at left back. and is also left footed. Now we have someone already at the club who is a left sided center back that can also play at left back who is out of contract this summer in the form of club captain Mickey Demetriou. Is Kyle a replacement for the County stalwart?
On the signing of Kyle, gaffer Graham Coughlan said: “Kyle has fantastic size and has a great
presence,” declared the gaffer. One thing we were short of last season was pace and he brings us that in abundance. He’s effective in both boxes with his height and he’s very capable of commanding that back line. Kyle has massive potential and there is no reason he can’t kick on and play higher. I really think with the potential that he has that if he buys into us, he can really push on with his career.”
Upon signing with the Exiles Kyle said: “I met with the gaffer a few weeks ago and had a good long chat, liked everything he said about Newport, and at that point I knew it was perfect for me.
“I am delighted to be here, I can’t wait to get going, meet all the boys and have a good season going
forward.”
Welcome to Newport Kyle!
