After a much needed win against Exeter we looked forward to the highly anticipated Fa Cup 4th round game against Middlesbrough in the Transporter Bridge Derby. About 1200-1500 County fans made the 540 mile round trip to The Riverside Stadium. One change was made to the team from the Exeter match with Joe Day missing the game because his Wife is giving birth this weekend so Nick Townsend made his Fa Cup debut.
The were not many chances in the first half with the score being 0-0 at half time. The deadlock was broken in the 51st minute when Spanish defender Daniel Ayala put Middlesbrough infront with a classic Tony Pulis set piece. towards the end i thought county should have scored a goal or two but with almost the last kick of the game former Boro academy player Matty Dolan equalised witch sent the travelling fans into chaos. i thought we deserved the draw as we played really well all through the game. As a result of this a replay will be played in a week and a half's time at Rodney Parade witch means that the Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis will travel back to his home town of Newport a game witch he will not want as his team are fighting for a play off spot in the championship.
There were many shocks in this round of the Fa Cup with Everton losing at the Den against Millwall. A game witch would have had a different result if VAR would have been in use. West ham were knocked out to Bottom of League One team AFC Wimbledon 4-2. As I Write this Antoine Semenyo has been recalled by Bristol City and is rumoured to be going to Chelsea. I wish him the best for his future.

Exeter post match review
So after a last minute defeat at the hands of crewe last Saturday the attention of Newport County turned to Exeter city at Rodney Parade. There was a lot of optimism around the club and the fans after the great result against Leicester city in front of the biggest home crowd since we played Tottenham. Michael Flynn made 2 changes from the crewe game with Mark O'Brien replacing Fraser franks and Regan Poole making his return to the county from Manchester united coming in for Tyler Forbes.
It was a nervy start from the county with Exeter dominating the early stages but failed to create much. County grew in confidence as the game went on creating a few good chances and forcing a few good saves from the Exeter goalkeeper Christy Pym but Exeter had the best chance of the first half which got Joe Day scrambling to his top left hand corner. We weren't at our best in the first half but after a half time team talk from Flynn meant that we better at the start of the second half. We had much more of the ball at the start of the second half. It was roles reverse from the first half. After a 5-10 minute spell from County we were in front through the in form Jamille Matt's 15th goal of the season. We created more chances and we should have scored more. I thought that we seen the game out quite comfortably with the match ending in the 3 points goint to Newport. This will give the team momentum going into the massive fa cup 4th round game up in Middlesbrough.
I thought we weren't at our best but we got the 3 points
